God will show you the Way
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
Psalm 32:8 (KJV)
Few things are more frustrating than knowing you need to make a decision but not knowing which direction to take.
We may ask, “Should I move forward? Should I wait? Is this opportunity from God? Am I making the right decision?”
Psalm 32:8 offers beautiful reassurance. God says, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go.”
Notice the personal nature of this promise. For those who will follow and trust Him, He instructs and guides individually. His own are special to Him.
God does not merely give us a destination and leave us alone to figure out how to reach it. He instructs. He teaches. He guides.
That means we can seek Him when we do not know what to do.
Sometimes we want God to reveal the entire journey at once. We would like to know what will happen next month, next year, and five years from now. But God’s guidance often comes one step at a time.
He gives enough light for today’s obedience.
Then, as we follow Him, He gives us direction for the next step.
One of the primary ways God guides us is through His Word. The Holy Spirit will never lead us contrary to the truth God has already revealed in Scripture. Therefore, when seeking direction, God’s Word should remain our foundation.
Prayer is also essential. Instead of making our plans and simply asking God to bless them, we can bring our plans before Him and sincerely ask for His direction.
There may also be times when God closes a door. A closed door can feel disappointing, especially when we were convinced it was the direction we should go. Yet God’s guidance sometimes includes preventing us from walking down a path that is not His best for us.
If you are seeking direction today, resist the pressure to have everything figured out immediately.
Seek God.
Read His Word.
Pray for wisdom.
Remain willing to obey.
Then trust Him to make the next step clear.
You do not need to see the entire road in order to follow the One who does.
The Shepherd knows the path even when the sheep cannot see beyond the next turn. Our security is not found in knowing everything ahead of us. It is found in staying close to the One who promises to guide us.

What decision or area of uncertainty do you need to place before God today? Are you willing to follow His direction even if it differs from what you originally planned?
Prayer
Father, thank You for promising to instruct, teach, and guide me. I surrender my plans to You. Give me wisdom to recognize Your direction and courage to obey when You show me the way. Keep me from rushing ahead of You or allowing fear to keep me from moving when You say go. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The Lord instructs me, teaches me, and guides me. I do not have to know the entire journey because I trust the One who knows the way.
