A Time and a Season for Everything
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)
Life is filled with seasons. Some are filled with joy and new beginnings, while others bring waiting, uncertainty, change, or even loss. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that our lives are not simply a collection of random events. There are seasons and appointed times, and God remains sovereign through them all.
Sometimes we recognize a new season immediately. At other times, we may find ourselves asking, “Lord, what are You doing?” We may be ready to move forward while God seems to be saying, “Wait.” Or we may want things to remain the same when God is preparing us for something new.
One of the greatest challenges of faith is learning not only to trust what God is doing, but also to trust when He chooses to do it.
A seed planted in the ground does not become a mature plant overnight. For a time, everything important is happening beneath the surface. Roots are developing where no one can see them. In much the same way, God may be working deeply within us during seasons that appear unproductive.
Waiting does not mean God has forgotten you.
A quiet season does not mean He has abandoned His purpose.
A closed door does not mean there will never be another one.
God can use every season to prepare us for what comes next.
Perhaps you are currently experiencing a season of beginning again. Maybe you are waiting for an answer, seeking direction, building something new, caring for someone, or wondering when circumstances will change. Instead of measuring God’s faithfulness by how quickly things happen, remember that His perspective is greater than ours.
There is wisdom in asking, “Lord, what do You want to accomplish in me during this season?”
Some seasons teach patience. Others teach courage. Some require us to release things we have outgrown, while others call us to step forward in faith.
Whatever season you are walking through today, God is still God within it. You do not have to understand the entire timetable to trust the One who holds your life in His hands.
Reflect
What season are you in right now? Instead of focusing only on when it will change, ask God what He wants you to learn, receive, or accomplish while you are here.
Prayer
Father, thank You that my life and times are in Your hands. Help me recognize the season I am in and trust Your timing. Give me patience when I must wait, courage when I must move, and wisdom to know the difference. Teach me to see Your hand at work even when I cannot yet see the outcome. In Jesus’ name, amen.
